Support Our Work, Protect Epping District’s Green Belt, Become a 'Keeper'
Keep Epping District Green is a volunteer-led community group dedicated to ensuring that planning decisions in our district are based on robust, independent evidence.
We are not a registered charity or a corporation; we are residents. Our work is funded entirely by people who believe that planning decisions should be fair, evidence-based, and grounded in the reality of living in Epping District.
When developers submit planning applications, they arrive armed with technical reports from highly paid consultants - highways engineers, transport modellers, and flood-risk specialists. These reports carry significant weight with the Planning Inspectorate.
Without equivalent independent expertise, our community’s objections can be dismissed as 'anecdotal'. We have seen this happen before: when sites are approved despite strong local opposition because the community often lacked the professional reports needed to challenge the developers' claim.
Your support allows us to fight fire with fire. We use donations to commission independent experts in:
Highways & Transport: Assessing the real impact on congestion and emergency service access.
Flood Risk & Drainage: Reviewing the validity of developer-led water management plans.
Planning Policy: Ensuring "Grey Belt" or Green Belt designations are not bypassed through technicalities.
Sustainability: Evaluating the true environmental cost of proposed developments.
Our immediate focus is commissioning an independent planning and transport consultant's report on Stewards Green Fields - one of the largest proposed green belt releases in the district. This report will assess not just SGF in isolation, but its cumulative impact alongside approved developments, live applications, and anticipated sites across the district. Evidence of this kind is what makes community objections impossible to dismiss.
With the threat of "Grey Belt" appeals looming, we are focusing on the forecasted traffic congestion and infrastructure limitations. Including highlighting the risk to emergency services vehicles unable to get to the needy in time.
We are seeking 50 founding 'Keepers' donating £200 each. Once the SGF report is commissioned, KEDG will turn its attention to other active applications, to stop unsustainable development.

Support the Mission
We are seeking founding contributors of £200 to fund the technical work required to protect our Green Belt.
KEDG is founder-led. All decisions about expenditure, priorities, and commissioned work are made by the founder. All funds are independently reviewed by a qualified accountant volunteering in that capacity, to ensure they are spent solely on professional fees and essential costs. No one involved in running KEDG is paid.
No hidden agendas: we do not operate mailing lists or sell data. Updates are published openly on this site for the whole community.
Important Legal Notes
Donations do not create membership rights or a contractual relationship. While professional evidence significantly improves our chances, donations do not guarantee specific planning outcomes. Information provided by the group is for general awareness and is not a substitute for personal legal or professional advice. Funds raised in excess of what is needed will be donated to the Epping Society - who have supported KEDG's founder. Donations are voluntary and non-refundable except where no funds have been spent, in which case contributions will be returned in full.
